Citric Acid Crystals

$4.25 USD

We have a 10 lb. limit per order.  If you need more Citric Acid Crystals, you will need to place a separate order.1 lb Citric Acid is a weak organic acid that doesn't have an acidic odor.  In an acid dyeing process, it can be used as a substitute for both acetic acid 56% concentration which is more dangerous, and white distilled vinegar which has a mild acid odor.  It is used only for protein fibers (silk, wool, etc.); it doesn't work for cellulose fibers (cotton, rayon, linen, etc.)  Although citric acid is found in citrus fruits, in higher concentration it is an irritant, so wear a dust mask, gloves, and eye protection when in contact.  It can be used with reactive dyes (microwave method) and acid dyes.  Manufacturer states that 1 teaspoon citric acid crystals replaces 1 teaspoon acetic acid 56%.  General usage is anywhere from 1/4 - 1 teaspoon citric acid crystals to every 1-4 cups of water for pre-soaking protein fibers before dyeing.
